Previously it has been kind of a headache to get Android L rooted. It required a modified supersu file plus a boot image. While Android L was not difficult at tall to root it was maybe a bit inconvenient or at least not as simple as it has always been. Today chainfire updated his SuperSU app to be compatible with the Android L Preview build. This means that you will easily be able to root your Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 running Android L. You will need an unlocked bootloader and you will need a custom recovery such as TWRP or Clock Work Mod Recovery installed. You will then head to the link below and grab the updated SuperSU.zip. Then simply boot into recovery and install the new updates SuperSU.zip. There are no huge changes in the app since this is not the final build of Android L. Grab the necessary file from the link below.
