Can't add Calendar widget

Has anyone experienced an issue when trying to add a Calendar widget to a Home screen on their Pixel 4 / 4XL? I use the stock Google Calendar app, always have. I like to have the small Calendar schedule widget on a home screen to the right, and when trying to add it it just places a blank box on the screen, never populates the widget. But the space is reserved and won't let me add anything else there. Very strange. I'm going to check the Google forums later, just curious if anyone here is aware of a known issue, or simple fix. What launcher stock or third party?I can try to place on depending on which one you are using ..

Stock launcher. And for whatever reason....after several hours, the smaller Calendar - schedule widget just populated all by itself. . Very weird....but it's working fine now. I suppose just a temporary glitch with the widget accessing my calendar data? Thanks BK. ,
