cannot update phone

Originally I used towelroot for my phone. Then the Verizon update broke it. when I try to update my phone with any OTA it fails. Verizon ran a diagnostic and says my phone is rooted we did a factory reset no luck. I am on version 4.4.2. To get the latest os update I found this

The factory reset should have killed root I believe.....

Try plugging your phone into your computer and running Samsung Kies. It should update the phone.

FDR does not kill root on the S5 and he can't update via KIES while still rooted. His best bet is to Odin flash version NI2 . We have a video walk through and files somewhere on the forum here. I'll link to it in a min.

That was my next suggestion although moving back to stock can also be accomplished through Kies.

Odin is my preferred method because I have used it for so long and it is faster.
