Android Eris Help with Recovery Drive

Im trying to update to a new Rom and im stuck at the whole Recovery drive. I have no idea what im doing wrong. The command prompts it gives Im unable to have anything work. Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong? Maybe files or anything? If I could find a walkthrough that allows me to have my CMD program have everything correctly then I would be happy. the currently program on the phone is just having a bunch of problems.

I'm gonna give you a bump here, because I'm not sure about the Eris, since I have a Moto Droid...Not sure if the setup is the same for flashing roms and etc...
