android 2.2 tablet error message

    Hi.
    I have a Le Pan Android 2.2 tablet getting an error message when I try to start most applications. This just started after using this tablet for about 3 months.
    The message is: application stopped unexpectedly. try restarting.
    restarting produces the same error.
    I' ve seen posts similar for android phones and usually uninstalling/reinstalling may fix the problem. This worked for the Opera browser for me but not for Netflix. Netflix uninstalled ok but will not download again. I'm not aware of how to troubleshoot this error, or is that just a fruitless endeavour. Any way to get to a command line and query system log files???
    If I'm at the point where I need to do a factory reset and reinstall everything from scratch, how does one prevent this from occuring repeatedly?
