Hi all. This is my first post and I need some help. I use the X for business and at times it shuts down on its own. Everything freezes then off it goes. Can you tell me what's going on?

Hard to say for sure...could be any of number of things from a bad app install, to a corrupted file, to a hardware conflict in the phone...

Have you tried doing a Factory Data Reset? This will revert the phone back to its original out of the box condition...you will have to go back in and reset the phone back up...but it has been known to fix some DX issues.

If you decide to do this, make sure you go ahead and Sync your Contacts to your Gmail account to make sure they are backed up and will reload accordingly when you set the Gmail account back up on the phone.:)

I've been having the same problem. I've done the factory reset, received 1 replacement and am currently waiting for my second replacement, (third device). Both of my phones have been powering off and on several times a day even during calls. I've found battery life to be very short. Last night I had about half of the battery left so I didn't recharge. This morning the battery was dead. Wifi, blue tooth and gps were all off and I made no calls or texts, so why the quick depletion I don't know. I'm going to keep bugging Verizon until they send me something that works. I suggest you do the same.

I would start backing off any new apps before trying the factory reset.

As far as battery life, smartphones are pocket size computers, you wouldn't expect your laptop battery to last all day, I don't think it should be expected out of your smartphone.

I hate for my phone to discharge, I plug it in all the time, especially overnight.

I never thought of my phone as having the power consumption of a laptop. With this being my first smartphone I am really getting an education. Thanks!

Would apps that are stored on my sd card cause the dx to shut down?

Some apps tell you not to install onto the sd card, but that's usually live wallpapers because they don't get picked up after reboot.

If the problem is recent, I would start backing off the most recent ones to see if you can find out what it is. It may not be an app at all, but that's where I would start.
