Alright so i went to grab my phone this morning when i heard my alarm going off and i accidently knocked it off my desk. after falling 2 feet onto the ground from my desk (didnt hit the ground that hard at all), it will now not turn on anymore. ive pulled the battery, replaced the battery, and it still doesnt work. i have insurance on my phone but my phone was rooted so i dont want to turn in my phone and have them eventually find out i hacked my phone. any ideas on what i should do? im thinking about just buying the thunderbolt instead but the price is 569.00 retail because im no where near my 2 year upgrade yet. i just cant believe that this happened cuz i just flashed the new gingerbread liberty last night and was loving it but didnt get to try out all the new features. looks like i wont be doing that anytime soon lol. but anyway please someone give me some advice on what to do in this situation because i dont verizon to know that i rooted my phone. ive always been able to turn to this forum when my phone has had problems and everytime someone has steered me in the right direction to solve the problem. hopefully someone can do the same again now. thanks guys

Insurance doesn't care that your handset is rooted. It's the warranty you need to worry about, which had been void at this point due to physical damage, anyway.

Ahhaha....im no stickler for the right or wrong thing to do, but if you have an insurance plan id go through assurion instead of verizon. Whats interesting is how the phone dropped only a couple feet, presumably onto carpet, and died.

Ive already dropped my phone 5 or 6 times onto hard concrete and wood floors from midsection height and it has no problems whatsoever, so maybe you could make a claim that something was defective.

seriously guys, we do not condone discussion of insurance fraud. as urban bounca already stated, they don't care if he's rooted so theres no need for it anyway.

IMO, do not lie. Take the phone wherever you think you should and tell them you dropped it on the floor and it won't turn on, and you have insurance coverage for it.

The bottom line is, if you can't turn it on, they probably can't either. Even if they could, I doubt they would deny you coverage. People shouldn't be so paranoid about rooting & warranty coverage unless you actually bricked your device because of rooting.
