Wish to sell phone - is it still connected to my account?

Trying to sell my phone but I'm worried that my account information is still connected. I've had it deactivated for over 6 months, but it still has the phone number that I'm currently using for my new phone and under 'Service state' it says, "in service". What does that mean/How can I fix that?

Just call Verizon. They can quickly verify if the device is deactivated or not.
