Wireless Hot Spot App

Not talking about finding a WiFi hotspot, talking about turning my Droid into a WiFi hotspot. I know they have an app on the iPhone for it.

But thanks.

I don't want to hijack this but a question comes up about this. If you are in a WiFi area with your Droid does it use the 3G network or the WiFi?

I'm pretty sure if you leave Wifi on it looks to connect for wifi in your area but it needs to be password free or if you have the password. If you have it off It will use 3G. I recommend you leave wifi off if you're not connected because it will keep looking for connection and drain your battery

Are you sure he turned the phone into a Wifi hotspot? I admit I'm not that well versed in technology but the only mobile Wifi mobilesdevices I know of are the Verizon and Sprint Mifi cards. I certainly could be wrong.

So you were able to connect to the internet using his iPhone's built in Wifi? That would be great if the Droid has this ability.

It can be done. THe G1 can now. They just have to have some time to develop the app since the droid JUST got rooted.

I don't want to come across as the "data usage police" but if a lot of people do this it could ruin the "unlimited data" option we all currently enjoy.

ATT is getting ready to get rid of the unlimited data option becasue their crappy network can't handle all the smartphone traffic.. IF we abuse the priviledge too much Verizon could follow suit..
