Wifi tethering question...

I rooted my droid to 2.2 and i am using the wireless tether app, but I can't tether at all. The computer picks up the droid as a wireless device and it says android tether as one of the wifi options. I will click on it and connects to it, but i am unable to get on any of the sites. What gives?
