Widgets menu taking forever to open

Is this a normal thing? Seems like my widget menu takes forever open. Is it just normal oncd you have a bunch installed or is there a problem?

Whenever I power down and restart, a page with eight quick contact widgets initially shows all blank widgets with "select contact" on it, then slowly, one by one, it fills in with the contacts I had previously selected.
I guess that's normal.
