why would i want/need a dual core processor?

i don't use my phone for business. it's basically just for pleasure (FB, texting, web, apps, etc.). what, if any, would be the advantage to upgrading to a dual core processor?

Also battery life is supposedly better with dual core as opposed to single core.

Once everything is optimized for dual-core, it should help battery life as apps can split the load and not run a single core very hard.
