Is "I want to be able to tale screenshots" a good enough answer to root my DX?

Only you can make that determination. Is that really the only thing you'd use root for?

I rooted for wireless wifi and adfree. Screenshot is nice though too.

Rooting and unrooting is so easy now with apps like z4root, I see no issue with it.

Couple of other things...boot animation changes. And that's just basic stuff. I am still pretty clueless about roms etc

You don't need to root to take screen shots. Its just a lot easier.
You can do it through ADB, although I don't know the commands of the top of my head.

I would say that's not a good enough reason. But that's just me.

I believe I read somewhere that there's a screen shot app that doesn't require root..? I'll see if I can find it.
