I think it will be 7.0 since the update does do a system overhaul. Many things changed/improved. I don't think we see GB in Cyanogen 6.xxx
I don't think we see it on OG Droid either. But that is just my gut feeling. I think they will time it so that people who signed 2 year agreements for the Droid in Nov 09 will upgrade their device in 2011. Sorry OG owners. It just makes perfect business sense.
Droid is still the #1 phone out there, dropping it would be silly as long as the hardware can handle it, and the user base is still on top.
Verizon and Motorola most likely will not make it available, since their goal is new phone sales, not existing customer satisfaction, but Devs rely on existing users being happy.
The G1 should've been dropped when Froyo came around; it ran it terribly. But the Droid is still a worthy contender. I wouldn't put too much faith in a chatlog excerpt.
there is a update coming from vzw as i saw on the main forum page. Dont know if its gingerbread. Also i think gingerbread requires 1ghz. So while vzw and moto may not release it, it will be made available to rooted users thanks to talented developers
