When does VZW tbolt free hotspot expire?

No warning for me yet (no push either from VZW). Turned it on. Shouldn't get charged. If I do, guess i'll pay the store a visit.

Mine still says FREE as of now. No notice stating its been terminated, no update. Typical Verizon mystery. If they DO decide to charge me, they will have a nasty fight on their hands. They NEVER officially stated a firm date as to when the free hotspot will be terminated. It states "When the promotional period expires you will need to subscribe". Well, I haven't subscribed, and it hasn't stated an expiration date. So as far as I'm concerned, it's free until Verizon notifies it's customers.

I'm yet to figure out how we are going to turn on unlimited tethering. Online they only offer the usage based plans with tethering so I'm wondering we are going have to call them to turn it on. Anybody heard anything?

Sent from my Thunderbolt!!

From what I've been hearing you will have to call and have them add the $30 unlimited tether plan. Be very specific that you are not changing your data plan, but just adding the unlimited tether feature. Wish it was available on the website as calling in seems to get mixed results depending on who your CSR is.

unlimited hotspot

You will be warned first. They are supposed to push an update out to ensure that.

The promotion for the unlimited hotspot expired on 07/06/2011. Effective 07/07/2011, a monthly subscription fee of $30 for Mobile HotSpot(MHS) and Mobile Broadband Connect (MBBC) will be applicable for customers who choose to continue using the service. ThunderBolt, DROID Charge by Samsung and LG Revolution customers who want to continue to use MHS and MBBC will be prompted (upon initiating a MHS / MBBC session) to self provision the MHS / MBBC for 4G LTE Smartphone option.

I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day!

haha VZW on droid forums. This is going to lead to some very angry messages from the hundreds of us who can't use our phones because the brilliant minds over at VZW can't figure out how to make their phone's battery last a full day, or ya know, not reboot once an hour.

Root your phone and it is free forever!

Maybe it will make up for the $250 you spent on a phone that doesn't work properly or the $100 a month you pay for service that drops constantly.

It is free until you install the latest update, I updated and got prompted to sign up, my wife hasn't updated and hers is still free.

Yeah, Verizon made the mobile hotspot free on the phone end rather than the network end... so if you don't install the update you will continue to get free hotspot afaik.

I still don't understand why they did that. Why would anyone update their phone if it is going to remove a free feature?

Do you think they will start paying closer attention to who is consuming large amounts of data and not paying for tether?
