How to speed up LauncherPro

I was happy with LauncherPro Plus (LPP), but it was getting very slow in changing screens and other things. I have a pretty intensive use with a 5x7 matrix of icons on each screen. I did some research and found that my problem was memory usage. LPP has a setting to change the memory usage. I set it to the max and it is now blazing fast. Here are the steps:

1. Home Screen
2. Menu
3. Preferences
4. Advanced Settings
5. Memory Usage Settings
6. Memory usage preset
7. High (there are 6 levels High, Medium, Moderate, Light, Low and Very Low. I also got good results with Medium. The Low setting did not work well for me.)
8. There are also various cache settings, but I left those alone

This made a huge difference and makes the phone so much more usable. I haven't seen any negative affects on other Apps. And when I check my available RAM, it seems to be about the same as before. I think that is because the way Android manages the RAM.

I also tried ADW. It is very similar to LPP, but has a few less features and is definitely slower for me compared to LPP with the High memory setting.

I've tried using other launchers, but I just end up missing the Facebook Widget from launcher Pro Plus too much and end up going back.

Try using another launcher and install colorize widgets. It holds the same features as the LPP widgets and its free!
