Whats that website where you can download the android apps?

I'm at Verizon right now trying to type this quickly! this tech guy im talking to is telling me there is no possible way to download .apk files from a website, . i know for a fact there is a website (though not right to download from i know) but it would be nice to prove him wrong, he keeps saying that the security built into the apps won't allow for an external download.
