What is the latest OS version I should have on Verizon Droid 1?

My current phone is sitting in a bag of rice while I keep my fingers crossed that the water damage it incurred today isn't permanent, so in the mean time I'm busting out my 1st Gen Moto Droid... Last time I used it was back in march and it currently has 2.2.2 on it... Is that the lastest available OS version? I see something about 4.0--is that only for newer phones? If there's a newer version I should have, can you guys let me know how I go about getting it since the phone says everything is up to date (so I'm guessing I'd have to do it manually some how?)

2.2.3 is the latest official release...its just a minor security update but if your phone doesn't get the update via checking for system updates then I don't think you can do much unless you're rooted
