what happened to wifi hot spot?

Not sure what you mean, but only the Palm Pre Plus (maybe Pixi too) has a free wifi hotspot on Verizon's network. I think they did that to pretty much unload inventory, since they haven't sold well.

Oh I'm sorry? I thought I saw a picture about a month ago with "wifi hotspot" but I guess it was just of the pam pre(which I knew about) sorry for the confusion! But ok well I used the pda net for tethering now how about the 2.2 tethering how is it? And what's the deal on price and such or just moneywise

Froyo is supposed to include Wi-Fi hotspot. I see USB tether in the options on my droid running Froyo but no hotspot option, wonder if it was excluded for some reason on Verizon.

If you have 2.2, All you need is the Wireless Tether app from the Market.

The wifi Hotspot setting isn't in the recent builds of Froyo because those builds aren't final. And the Wifi tether app only gives you an ad-hoc connection, not a true infrastructure connection. Some devices (like other android devices) cannot connect to it.

You can setup wireless tethering on pre-2.2 versions. You just need to do a little modding to get it to work (gain root, replace kernel, install wireless tether app)
