What Do You Want To See?

The iPad and Galaxy Tab are two great tablets, and we have the pleasure of playing with both for a few days. Santa Claus has come to our home a bit early and he wore a Verizon Wireless red track suit and in the bag was the Galaxy Tab, one of the best devices I have ever held in my hand. The iPad was also in there, but I was not as excited for that since I mean it is basically my iPod with a huge screen. Regardless, we want your opinion on what sort of review you would like to see from us, and what kind of comparison you might enjoy reading.

So guys please reply and let us know. I also have a continuum here for review, so expect some articles of that. And don’t worry; Santa will come to you too dressed as a Droidforums giveaway article, so look out for those.

Going by this, the galaxy tab is the same as a big galaxy s minus calling... Just sayin, if you're gonna compare, compare em unbiased-ly, or whatever the word is lol

I love the galaxy tab... its perfect... you can operate it comfortably with both hands the ipad is just a bit too large and boring. The 2 app screens then the message screen is just too basic for me. The screen on the Gtab is nice and its crazy responsive. If it weren't for the ticket on that thing I'd be all over it.... also I thought it was going to be phone capable as well?

IMO it's not that mazing. The Samsung Fascinate is better than this tablet. Especially when you compare the price/quality of merchandise. I wouldn't touch this tablet unless it was about $200 - $250...

Good, Then Don't Buy One... All the more Galaxy Tabs for those who appreciate its excellence, priced fairly/competitively. dancedroid

Note: Sent from the owner of both a Samsung Galaxy Tab and a Samsung Fascinate.... which happens to be a fine Android device but hardly a Galaxy Tab equal/competitor.

I want a 4.8 to 5 inch like a nice EVOish wide device (not a thin and long Droid X like device) that has an amazing non OMLED or non LED screen but VGA, 500GBs of capacity or more, or better yet an SSD replaceable hard drive that comes with say 32GBs but you can upgrade it to 500GBs, that has Android, 3g/4g, AND phone capabilities unlike the Galaxy S. HDMI out, 1080p video capability, a front facing camera, kickstand, Gorilla Glass and a vertical sliding qwerty would be nice, but the latter likely won't happen.

Oh, and the bootloader is 100% unlocked - this device (the Viewsonic) is OURS!

It's all good and well that you're so in love with your Viewsonic G-Tablet's specs, but at this point it has NO Android market access, and the dimensions (Width: 10.5", Height: 6.8", Depth: 0.54", Weight: 1.55 lbs.) make it every bit as big, bulky, heavy and ungainly to carry around as the iPad, which (for me) completely defeats the purpose of a go-anywhere tablet/slate device.

Enjoy you 'Home Tablet', but I (and obviously some 1 million others) require a larger-screened device that's actually a portable/practical size and weight e.g the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

DaHarder, you couldn't be more incorrect!! The Viewsonic does indeed have FULL market access - like I said, go educate yourself over at XDA. The size is simply a matter of preference. The Viewsonic is MUCH faster and more powerful than the Galaxy (and about $200 less expensive AND you don't have to sign a contract to get one).

And, DaHarder, seriously? - poratability? The Viewsonic is quite a bit smaller than the iPad and the Galaxy is really only slightly smaller than the Viewsonic (and you just WiFi Tether it to your Droid). If anything, you've really only made an argument for owning an EVO or a Droid X.

i have an archos 70 while its not perfect for 250 its incredible.

the size is awesome i wouldnt want anything bigger ever. not that i do it but it can fit in a suit pocket or in the back of your jeans pocket (if need be) and that a big thing to free up your hands in my book.

2011 things are going be awesome but 7" tabs are great.

Believe whatever makes you feel comfortable with your purchase decision, but my Samsung Galaxy Tab offers some 3 times the viewable area of my DROID X (making it great for the www, videos, email, document creation/viewing, et al), while supporting the Android Market, ALL Google certified apps (including GPS with turn-by-turn directions, mobile hotspot functionality, etc.) as well as constant 3G connectivity right out of the box/sans any hacking/tethering.

Given that I already own 3 other 10 inch tablet devices (in addition to my iPad), I'm more than aware of the size/weight/functional differences of these larger devices when compared to my Galaxy Tab, and they are rather substantial for those desiring to utilize their table/slate devices on-the-go.

Happy Holidays.

Well, it'll be interesting to see how tablet evolution goes. I don't think there's enough differentiation in size going from a Droid X/EVO to a Galaxy. Also, note that Acer will be releasing a 5" screen phone shortly. In light of all the large-screened phones that are out (and the bigger ones that are confirmed for realease) the Galaxy is kinda the exact wrong size, because when you compare it to them now it's the cumbersome one. As the Galaxy can't offer the laptop-similar experience of a 10" screen tablet, it really struggles with an identity crisis.

Its 'identity' is that of a much-larger-display-than-smartphone device, that offers 100% one-the-go portability/connectivity, all while being easily controlled/operated while holding it in one hand, which is NOT something that's remotely feasible with something as large/heavy as a Viewsonic G Tablet/iPad.

As for this nonsensical claim that it/7-inch tablet/slate devices, "really struggles with an identity crisis"... There are some 1 Million + Galaxy Tab owners who demand to differ.

That's only due to Samsung marketing and Black Friday specials. When the next wave of tablets hits, the Galaxy is going to be eclipsed - we're going to see far more people going with those. Unfortunately, the Galaxy was rushed to market in an attempt to gain early market share dominance (mostly on paper). Just wait until Motorolla releases their tablet, you'll see.
