Washed out pixels on LCD screen

I dropped my phone a few days ago and the top 3/4 of the screen got washed out. It's odd though because the pixels seem to still all work. They move with video and colors but they are more like a long stream of the particular color dominating the pixel area (Think of a rainbow across the sky). It's really quite odd. Wondering if anyone else has come across this at all. Did some searching online and didn't really come up with anything. Verizon won't help me because they said since I dropped it I voided my warranty and I don't want to pay full retail for a new one. The phone still works fine, its just annoying.
