How can I take a picture and use the entire picture for a wallpaper ? I don't want the lil box option, is it a way around that ?

I have a Droid, not a Droid X, but I believe this might still work (it works for me on the Droid)... worth a shot either way.

Download Mabilo Wallpapers from the market. Open Mabilo and add a couple of pictures to your favorites. This will create the following directory on your SD Card: /mabilo/favorites . Move your desired image into that "favorites" directory on the SD Card. Then restart Mabilo, go into your Favorites within Mabilo, and you should see your image. Then, from within Mabilo, set it as the wallpaper. Unless your image is a funky resolution, it should utilize the full image for your background... or at least a lot more than that little orange square you get through the gallery.

I moved the images to favorites, but when I go to open , it keeps flipping back to home screen of Mabilo

I've never tried pseudo-importing an image with those dimensions - maybe mabilo has some max limitations... not that that helps you at the moment. :)

The issue is not necessarily the dimensions, it's the ratio. 3264X1840 is a different shape than 960X854. You can stretch the selection box to its maximum size when setting the wallpaper, but you won't ever be able to shrink a 3264X1840 picture to a 960X854 display and keep your aspect ratio the same. You could conceivably add black bars to the side of your image to bring it to an equivalent ratio, but that's a lot more math than I'm prepared to help with in this forum. Or anywhere.

Ok how do I try and resize it

The only way I've ever done it is with my OLD copy of Photoshop (either 5 or 6, don't remember...). You can just go up to Image and then Resize.

Photoshop on the phone ?

no, sorry, photoshop desktop... i just tried "photoshop express" from the android market on my phone, and it does not have the ability to resize images

i am sure there are apps or other free desktop image/paint programs that can do it, i've just always used photoshop to resize... i'll keep looking and post if i find one

Two programs on Windows I know that have resize options are MSPaint (the default one that ships with all windows OSes) and Irfanview (free download). Irfanview has tons of other options like image processing, cropping and so on.
