VZW PTT app?

is it possible to create a app that would take advantage of VZWs push to talk feature? I dont believe that goes over a seperate band, just 1x

there is already ptt apps, the problem is that they only work if the person u r communicating with has the same app. it would be nice though if there was push to talk software like the nextel, where you enter the numbers like 23*4254*425 ect. hope somebody womes up with. that would make the droid truly the best phone out there.
