vibrate issue on Droid RAZR M

My Droid has a problem where the vibrate is making a ticking noise instead of vibrating. Is there any way I can clean out the part that does the vibrating or is there a different problem?

The vibration is created by a tiny motor with a weight attached to the axle, which is off-center (a half-moon). The vibration comes from spinning that weight around and since it's off-center it pulls the motor around due to centrifugal force. The motor is supposed to be fixed permanently to the phone, so the centrifugal force then causes the phone to want to follow the path of the weight around that axle.

If you are hearing clicking instead of "buzz/hum" type sound, then it could be either the motor has broken loose from its mount causing it to slap against a part of the phone's internals, or the weight is loose on the axle and the same results.

This isn't something you want to try and fix yourself. If you are under warranty, it's a warranty claim.
