Verizon Sues Union Workers Over Strike while FBI Investigates Sabotage

Things have heated up even further with the Verizon communications land-line workers' strike. According to some reports from last week, Verizon is now suing the striking workers' union, Communications Workers of America, over allegations that the demonstrations have gone too far, harassment, blocking access to facilities, and sabotage. Additionally, the FBI has been brought in to investigate over 90 alleged incidents of sabotage, including cut phone & internet lines of a hospital and a police station.

Michael Mason, Verizon's chief security officer said,

"I consider that an unpatriotic act. These cuts aren't just affecting a faceless, monolithic company."

Also, Special Agent Bryan Travers, of the FBI, said in an email,

"Because critical infrastructure has been affected, namely the telecommunications of both a hospital and a police department, the FBI is looking into this matter from a security standpoint as part of our security efforts leading up to the 9-11 anniversary."

Finally, a spokesperson from the CWA Union responded,

"CWA does not condone illegal action of any kind, and instructs its members to conduct all strike activities in accordance with labor law."

It seems as if this is getting out of hand rather quickly...
