Verizon mobile hotspots & connection to computer

I have a Verizon DROID razr mobile hotspot. My Dell "vista" laptop; my Kindle; and my iPod Touch all connect to the internet through this Hotspot. My problem: I have an HP "Win 7" laptop which recognizes the Hotspot in the same way as it recognizes my home network. Everything looks great until I hit "connect" and a message comes up saying Windows cannot connect. I've spent hours on the phone with Verizon and motorola and hours in the Verizon store besides the time I've spent on the problem. Does anyone have a solution I could try?

I have an HP win7 laptop also and for the longest time I had issues connecting as if it just didn't see the hotspot at all. After rebooting the phone it would connect and after doing it this way for awhile the strange thing is, it now connects with no issue in less than a minute. I am rooted if that makes any diff. I used SQlite to tweak the registry settings to enable hot spot gratis and possibly that helped as well.
