Using the Gmail app with other email accounts

I've looked and looked and searched and can not find what I'm looking for, so I'm sorry if this has been posted. I've never had much luck searching for anything on any forums page.

I thought I read somewhere, sometime that the gmail app that comes with the phone is the best overall email app and can be used with other pop3 accounts. Before I screw anything up (this is my first droid phone) I was hoping someone could help me figure out
A) If the gmail app is best and if not, which one to use and
B) Where can I get the instructions on how to set everything up properly (comcast email).

Thanks all!!

Did you go to the non-mobile Gmail site? The option to import your other accounts is under the settings panel. There you can input the info required and its smooth sailing from there. Afterward it'll show up in your app no prob!

No I didn't but I'll double check it. I started messing around with my gmail account and saw forwarding options and the like, but I'm still so new with all of this that I didn't want to attempt anything without a little consultation first.

I rarely ever use my gmail so do you think that will be a problem or will my Comcast email just come straight through?

Thank you so much for your reply and direction!

No prob bob!
As far as my opinion goes..the forwarding versus adding the accounts directly to the mobile app aren't thaaat different. It just depends on whether or not you want to separate your inboxes. Even if you just had the mail forwarded, you could then set a filter so it would go directly to a label! So the options are all in the users favor.
But to add another account directly from the mobile Gmail app by toggling settings from the inbox. It will say 'go to accounts.' If you want to add an account it will give that option. :)

Thanks for your help guys! Is there a gmail widget that will act like to HTC mail widget? I like having the full screen widget setup on one of my home screens but I would like a gmail one if one exists. Or any other email widget that me work better than what HTC provides.

Hi,

Can you reply from your Droid to emails that were sent to your home email and have it show that it came from the home email account or will it always show that you replied from your gmail acct?

Thanks in advance for responding to my first post!
