Use TLS on IMAP account

I'm trying to help someone set up an IMAP work email account that uses TLS (not SSL) security on the SMPT server. I can't find this option anywhere and she's currently able to receive but not send mail as a result. Does anyone know how to do this?

Try K9 or set up gmail to check the account

I set up MailDroid for her and it's working perfectly.

That's another option. Exchange users should also consider Touchdown.
