Use my laptop as a lap dock?

So, I thought I saw a thread about this and I searched for it, but no results so here goes.

Is there a way to use my laptop, an HP pavilion, as a lap dock? I thought i saw an adapter of some sort out there. I feel like this would be an awesome feature if anyone has figured it out.
