Update to the latest version or stay with current version?

I keep getting messages telling me that an update will start. I have been putting it off until I got a chance to ask the PROs!!

Might as well. The update prompt will just keep coming back. Root is the only way to avoid it, and since the update has been rooted, there is really no reason to avoid it.

I think update is a big improvement 3g/4g switching much better

I wasn't on the shipped firmware long enough to get a basis to compare. I think their big focus was tos anyways. Gotta love when the lawyers are the driving force for an update.
