Update not available at this time.

My phone has given me the Update not available at this time message since new. I have had to side load every update with the help of either VZW or Moto techs. Any suggestions other than factory reset or new phone.

What's worked for me in the past is to:

1) Power down and remove both battery & sim card
2) Replace battery only and power up (you'll get an error message)
3) Power down, remove battery and replace both sim card & battery
4) Power up

Be sure to put the sim card in the right way, otherwise it'll get fried. This happened to me and I had to get a new sim card. Fortunately it was replaced free of charge.

aaf, i was hopeful. Did as you posted. Took twenty minutes to search for updates but the message is back. This thing has never done an OTA update. Other issues have been so minor that I can't bear to trade it for a replacement.

If aaf's steps did not work for you your next step is unfortunately a factory data reset. That should clear it up for you. VZ will ask you to do one before they send a replacement so you might as well go for it.

Just wait it out? Ive seen where others have gotten ota and one week later mine finally came. It is not avail to everyone at the same time, this is done on purpose. If u want it now can always load the leaked versionsl which is the same

I think the OP wants to see the "Your phone is up to date!" message, which they've never seen.

Oh.. doesnt read that way to me at all. That said, if you are actually up to date why does it matter? Unless it was wasting battery continually trying to download latest version

The latest update has also only gone out to soak testers and maybe few more. If everytime a new update comes out and you try check for updates, most likely you are going to see that your device is up to date. Patience and it will come so long as you are not on some custom rom

Look at the OP's first statement

This means he has never gotten an OTA update since he got the phone. And every time he checks it says, "Check for updates not available at this time. Please try again later" when it should be saying "Your phone is up to date!" When .905 rolls out he won't get that OTA either.

To the OP, are you rooted and maybe frozen bloatware?

Fair enoufh. Ive gotten that message as well many times. Its nothing to be alarmed of. Again for me after some period of time it would work

I've gotten that message too, but according to the OP, that's the only message they've gotten since September. They're only up to date because all updates were manually installed and none have been OTA.

Check for updates not available at this time

Check for updates not available at this time means you don't have a good enough data connection to check.
Try checking again when you have a good data connection.

I had the same problem 2 updates ago. I had to pull the battery several times to get out of the no updates at this time message. It worked for me on both updates.

As aaf stated, I have never been able to get an ota update since new. The phone has never given me any message other than "update not available ". And I did do a data reset way back. I wait at least a month before finally doing a sideload. The phone works well now with the exception of the lapdock. Not working since the. 902 sideload. I have also received a new sim from VZW. Still no joy.
