Unable to open, view, edit, or add contacts on my Droid X

For about a month now, I have not been able to open, view, edit or add contacts. I launch the contacts and can view the list but when I click on one, the screen flashes and it goes back to the home screen. I don't know if I inadvertently deleted a file or folder, or if another app I have on my phone is interfering with my contacts, I uninstalled all of the recent apps I installed in the past month thinking that one of the new apps might be the problem, but it is still occuring. I have been looking in all the files on my phone and can not find one that has my contacts in it. Did I delete it? Is there even one named contacts? How do I restore the stock contacts option that was working fine until a month ago. I dont have any other contact apps on my phone except the factory one. Please help this is very frustrating. I have been searching online for answers and so far nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
