Looks as though the fine folks behind TWRP have made it official for the Moto X (finally

Grab TWRP 2.7.1.1 from their website http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/234
or use an app like Flashify or TWRP Manager to install the recovery right from your phone.
This update includes OTG support and many other bug fixes. An unlocked bootloader is required.
