Two observations on 4.4.2

Battery life is significantly longer.

Camera is significantly faster.

I have noticed the update messed up my speaker volume. On Jelly Bean the speaker was loud. Now on Kit Kat the speaker is low. I think the sound effects in settings is causing the problem.

Probably. Try different settings. Wife has hearing problems and we found the settings needed to be changed to what she could hear better.

I noticed the same thing on the notification volume even with it turned all the way up.
