Turn off wireless email reconciliation on an android phone?

I recently switched from a blackberry to a droid charge. On the blackberry, I was able to turn off "wireless reconciliation", so that anything that I read or deleted on my phone would have no impact on the emails in my aol inbox. I have figured out how to get them to remain in my New mailbox after being read, but I cannot get them to remain in bold, which is how I keep track of which emails I have not yet read. Anyone aware of any email app that will allow me to do this?
