Ok, so I promised I would never as repeated questions that have already been answered, but I have searched this site as well as google.

Quite frankly, I am confused and trust my friends here than some random self proclaimed "developer".

The current situation:

I have a 10yr old and a 5 yr old who managed to destroy their tablets within a weak of purchase from AT&T. In their defense, I procrastinated on buying a protective case, so my bad.

They have been sent to assurian to be fixed, but long story short, assurian has "misplaced" them. Thats a whole nother story in itself.

So, with no internet access except via mobile I cannot handle another "When is my tablet gonna be here"?

So, i was snooping around the house and found a verizon HTC Desire 526 prepaid phone I forgot we had.

Is it possible to use this with our AT&T service? If so, how?

I am way out of my league here. I do know the adroid version it is running on is 5.1.

Sincerely,

Desperate in Bama

Do you use hotspot? Set the phone up for wifi access to your phones hotspot.

Exactly. If you have a plan that includes the Mobile Hotspot, it's a breeze. If your plan is one that offers it at a premium (with Verizon), you can add it on a day to day prorated basis, rather than paying for a full month. Just call them, ask them to add it. Use it till you don't need it anymore. Then call them and ask them to remove it. They will pro-rate the monthly fee.

Pretty sure it'll only work on Verizon & not AT&T

Sorry for the late response. With AT&T new unlimited data package, they disabled the hotspot feature. :/

So, apparently even if it did work, due to the fact that the att sims card is assigned to a tablet number it will not be compatible to use the phone number with a actual phone. Something about it being a "ghost" line. Regardless, i am on my way to att to reasign the number to a micro sim.
