Trouble with email account

My yahoo email account that's set up in my phone email accounts won't stay synced at all. Even when I hit the sync button it still displays emails that I've already deleted. Any help?

I never understood how email in android works either. I setup my yahoo account, and had the same problem, with deleted messages appearing in my inbox. It never did that with my iphone 4.

One thing to check would be- go to quick settings, then go to all settings, then find accounts & sync. Go into that and see if it says off at the very top of screen, if it does, touch it and it should go to on. That might be it.
