Touch Screen Issue !!!

My Motorola Droid 1 has recently developed a touch screen issue. When in portrait mode the "p", "l" and "del" keys do not work. Is this a permanent issue or an update issue? When I switch to landscape there is no issue.

Do the areas where the keys are work when your doing something other than typing? If they do I would try using a different keyboard
