Howdy all, first time Droid user, new to the site, haven't really bothered to use smart phones before either. I'm not totally technology illiterate but this droid seems to be a lot more complex than my wife's iPhone. I'm glad I enjoy complex toys.

First question, how the heck do I save the pictures she is texting me into my gallery?

Welcome! Glad to have you here.

To save the picture you are going to long press the picture and a dialog should pop up and give you a menu. One of these items should be to save it. On a RAZR I'm not exactly sure what folder it will be in but it should show up in your gallery afterwards. On my Nexus its in "downloads."

Thanks I figured it out. Silly thing is you have to long tap the picture in the text messages box where you see the list of all your messages. If you tap on the actual message to see the picture full size you cannot save it. Kind of stupid.
