The Dreaded "DROID" Voice

Sorry if this has been asked, but I am ready to stomp on this phone!! HOW can I disable that stupid "DROID" voice that seems to speak whenever it feels like it???The last time I powered the phone on, it said it 6 times! Please, save me....

Thank you!! My Priest didn't appreciate the evening interruption, but was ready to make a house call when I said that the phone was spinning uncontrollably... But now that I have changed my notification tone to something more "subtle", I think I'll make it through the night without committing "Droidicide"!!

When it was free, I had the Locale app, which changes settings (WiFi, sound, etc) depending on your location. For example, you want it to go to silent when you go to the movies. You set that location and settings and it'll do that automatically.

Anyhow, I set that up for church. It shut off the ring all right, but NOT the email announcement (I probably didn't have it set right). Sure enough, there in the silence....

I sat on it for the rest of the service.

I turned it off a couple of days ago, replacing it with some crap generic beep. I find I actually miss the droid voice, daft as it is. I think I'll go back to it.
