Have you hacked your phone? did you recently put any new apps on it? How long have you had your phone? i probably can't help you but whoever does is most likely going to need more information.

i was getting a similar error and even after rebooting the phone i was still getting the error.

try turning off the phone, pulling the battery out, holding down the power button, putting the battery in, and turning it back on.

I don't know if this will help. I think if you go in to your settings>applications>manage applications>e-mail>clear cache

Then try and see if you can look at your e-mails.

Good luck!

Same problem - now using K9

I am now using k9 which does not seem to have the default emails problem, in addition, k9 fixed the problem with smtp and tls in a few days, this affects a lot of schools. The default mail program kept failing on me. Try k9

the fix

I had the same problem and what I did to fix is..
I went to settings/applications/manage applications
Then what you have to do is filter and show all applications
Then go to email and clear all data.. and then you will have set up the email again.

It worked for me!

Did not work for me

I did all of the above and the app still forced quit, apparently it does not work for some and it would be nice if it were a lot more robust.

This solves the immediate problem.... then you have to set your mail all up over again...then it happens again.

Does anyone know 'why' it happens...is it just a bug?

Touchdown, best app ever.

I loaded touchdown but just like imb650 said...it only supports exchange. I downloaded K9 as well to put my personal accounts in...but I really like the combined email box that's available with the droid stock app.

So here's the plan. :icon_ banana: I've got to play a little more with Touchdown before i sink $20.00 bucks into it. I've set up my non exchange accounts with the stock app (again) :cus: and for backup also in K9.

No one has been able to pinpoint why the stock app :icon_ poke: fails so I'm hoping it has something to do with exchange. If that's the case and touchdown works and meets my needs then I will be good.
