Text messages sent with pics problem

I have had my phone for over 6 months and have not had a problem sending pics via text. Now I am getting an error message that states generic network failure and my texts with photos attached won't send. Is this an issue with my phone or is it a cell network issue. Again the error message I'm getting is generic network failure. I appreciate the help
