Tethering with rooted phone

A quick question, when tethering with my rooted droid can I talk on the phone at the same time if I am wireless tethering?

I would think you could as a phone call doesn't use 3g. I haven't gotten a phone call when tethering, but it should work, at least i think it should...try making a phone call while tethering.

LOL you're welcome. It never crossed my mind until you mentioned it to be honest. Then again, i only tether pretty late at night when i turn my router off (router is in parent's room) so I tether only late at night and i better not be getting calls that late...

No you cant talk on the phone and use internet on verizon at the same time you can on att of course thats if either works at all

After reading your post, I used my land line and called my Droid. I answered the call then tried to open a new web page. I was not abel to connect. I had to turn off the tether and turn on to reconnect.

Do you do something different that allows you to stay tethered while talking?

OK you can tether and talk at the same time but you can't change web pages( you just get a thinking icon/ bar) and if you are streaming from Netflix it will rebuffer... So if you are just reading one web page and don't need to go anywhere else on the web it is possible, otherwise umm no

I was able to scroll on pages that had already loaded but could not load any new pages. So for me, if I'm tethering, I won't take a call.

I believe this would be the network limitation. I always mix up whether it was AT&T or Verizon that could do talk and surf, lol.

CDMA (VZW/Sprint) do not do voice/data simultaneously (unless on wireless). GSM (AT&T/T-Mo) does.
