System Software not authorized by Verizon Wireless

I get error while trying to start phone with power on, or even into recovery/download mode.
"System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help."
This happened after trying to flash CM10 through ROM manager app. I keep reading try to flash via Odin but I cant get into download mode for my phone to even show up on Odin. Help?

Can't be of any help to you unfortunately, but I'm honestly just stunned reading your post. Hope you get it back up and running.

Steps to remember lol --> Odin to stock --> Take the OTA --> Root --> Unlock Bootloader --> Install Recovery --> Flash away! I got myself with the same error the other day haha.

How did you get your phone back into download/recovery to use Odin?

you try this

I just did a battery pull and left it out for 30 seconds. After I put in battery I held volume down + home button and power. Phone will vibrate and then go to some warning text at which step you hit volume up to continue into download mode.

Just make sure to unlock AFTER the ota because it apparently relocks the bootloader. That's what got me.

I have tried to install a ROM on a friends phone around 5x now and i keep getting the
"system software not authorized by verizon wireless has been found on your phone."
error message

im using this method:
which seems to work fine for root and i even see an open padlock on the boot screen which seems to me like an unlocked bootloader.
HOWEVER... after installing a ROM (tried a few 4.1.2 variants) i still get this verizon message.
luckily i am able to flash back to stock and start over without problems.
tried CWM and TWRP with no difference

im doing the rooting/unlocking AFTER the latest OTA... what am i doing wrong?

FIXED: i fell victim to the deceiving open padlock icon during boot
my bootloader is not actually unlocked.... it just detected that i have root installed.
after following these instructions: [GUIDE] Root for Jelly Bean 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 OTA ***UPDATED 3/5*** - xda-developers
and actually unlocking bootloader all is well.
