Sync circle thing at the top on status bar?

What is this thing? How do I turn it off? I have all automatic syncing disabled but that thing pops up sometimes. What is it? How can I turn it off if it's not needed?

No, this isn't green. It is next to the e911 thing and is the same white color.

So how do we either log into it so it stops complaining, or get rid of it.
It's ALWAYS in the notification bar using up valuable real estate.

Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync...turn off whatever you don't want to sync.

I don't see any option to turn the sync off for this.

If it is backup assistant there is no way to disable it once it gets turned on. You do have a few options : 1. log on to VZW.com go to the tab that says services then backup assistant and change the pwd. 2. On the phone go to settings then applications then manage applications and force close it. - it will turn back on though. Or 3. Factory reset... Of course there is option 4. Live with it
