Stupid question about the radio toggle switch widget

Hi! For that widget that that lets you toggle the radios on and off, I know GPS, Wifi, Brightness, and Bluetooth. The one that looks like a "synch" symbol, what exactly does that turn on/off?

It turns the syncing of your accounts on and off.. if you turn it off it won't get any new emails till you turn it on, or open the mail program and sync manually.. That widget is for saving power so it is easy to turn things on when you need them and off when you aren't using them to save battery power..
