Stop SMS Calendar Notifications

I decided I didn't want to pay for SMS calendar notifications. But I can't find anywhere to turn them off. I went to GMAIL/Calendar and checked to make sure the Notifications/SMS was not checked and it is not checked. But I'm still getting SMS notifications for my calendar items.

Any help?

Are they actual text messages coming through or an alert for the events?

go to Google Calender, on left at bottom, open SETTINGS and change the default reminder settings.
