Stock radio app

Anyone know how to get the stock radio app on the droid x to work without a set of headphones plugged into the phone? It doesn't make much sense because it has a option to play threw the phone speakers. I know there are other apps out there but I like the layout of this one.

The headphones are required for signal.

The phone uses the headphone cables as the antenna for the radio....which is why you have to have them plugged in.
