Sound file shortcut on homescreen?

I saved a notification sound to my SD card and applied to my email notification. I wanted to know if there is a way to set a shortcut to any of these sounds on the homescreen? Press shortcut n you hear sound, ta da. Anyway of doing that?

Yeah, I did it once for the Drooooiiiiid sound, but when launching the shortcut it opens the media player, then plays the sound, and if I remember right it left the media player open afterwards. Too clumsy for me.

Ok, do this. I'm going to use the sound file Droid.ogg as an example. I have it in my Downloads folder on the sd card but it can be in any folder.

Long press a home screen - Add Shortcut.
Choose Astro (if you have it, or another file manager)
Then you can navigate to the folder...
Then you can choose the sound file...
Shortcut gets created on the home screen and pressing it will play the file using the media player, which will immediately exit.
Works fine.

If you're rooted you can make the shortcut to any of the default notifications.
They're stored in
/system/media/audio/notifications
I'm thinking Astro won't even show the contents of those folders without root, but I could be mistaken.
