Sound choppy with HDMI

I downloaded an .avi movie to my Droidx... I then hooked it to my television with the HDMI hookup and started to play the movie on my television. The picture Quality is great... but the sound is only comes in little blurps at a time... any Suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated...

If the HDMI cable is completely connected to both the DX and the TV, then maybe the video is messed up, is it choppy on the phone's speakers? Maybe it's your TV?
